Producer Molly Smith has formed Belle Pictures to develop and produce features and TV properties in association with Warner Bros.-based Alcon Entertainment in a four-year first-look deal.
Belle’s first project’s an adaptation of “The Bootlegger’s Boy,” football coach Barry Switzer’s memoir about coaching at Oklahoma University and the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. Alcon will finance with Smith producing along with siblings Thad and Trent Luckinbill, who brought the project in.
Patrick Massett and John Zinmann (“Friday Night Lights”) are in negotiations to pen the adaptation.
Allison Rayne has been tapped VP of development at Belle with Jon Schumacher as creative exec and Emma Branch as production exec.
Smith’s currently producing supernatural love story “Beautiful Creatures” along with Erwin Stoff and Alcon toppers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. She produced “P.S. I Love You,” exec produced “The Blind Side,” which she brought to Alcon. She served as a production executive at Alcon prior to forming 2S Films with Hilary Swank and producing “Something Borrowed her first feature.
Smith remains partners with Swank on 2S Films.
Massett and Zinmann are repped by CAA and Industry Entertainment. Thad Luckinbill is repped by Brillstein Entertainment.
