  • I just applied for a position online. What's next?
    We receive applications from many well-qualified candidates for most of our positions. Therefore, you may not hear feedback regarding your application unless you are selected for interview. All candidates do receive an email message to inform when the position is filled.
  • What is the hiring process like for staff (SHRA) positions?
    These positions close on a specific date and are reviewed by Human Resources. If the hiring department is using a search committee, HR will screen applications for minimum qualifications. If the hiring department is not using a search committee, HR will complete a more in-depth review of strengths based on the job ad. Typical next steps are phone interviews, followed by campus interviews for selected candidates.
  • What is the hiring process like for Faculty/Research/Professional (EHRA) positions?
    For our Faculty/Research/Professional positions, we exclusively use search committees to screen and review candidate pools. After the priority consideration date has passed, the search committee will review the qualifications of all candidates in the pool and will reach out to selected candidates for follow up. Typically there is a round of phone interviews, followed by campus interviews for selected candidates. Given the dynamic nature of committee processes, it may take several weeks after the priority consideration date for the completion of review of application materials.
  • It has been over a month since I submitted my application and I haven't heard anything. What do I do?
    For any job category (SHRA or EHRA), if time passes and you do not hear anything directly, feel free to reach out to our employment team at 910.962.3160 and request information on the status of the search.
  • I'm having trouble with the online application system. Who do I contact?
    Personal assistance with UNC Wilmington's online application system is available in the Office of Human Resources, located on campus in the Administrative Annex, or by calling 910.962-3160.

The following is information about our recruitment practices and expected time frames. We are often fortunate to receive applications from many well-qualified candidates for most of our positions. Faculty & Research/Professional (EHRA Non-Faculty) Positions

For our Faculty/Research/Professional positions we exclusively use search committees to screen and review candidate pools. The search committee will review the qualifications of all candidates in the pool and will reach out to selected candidates for follow up, likely with phone interviews. Given the dynamic nature of committee processes, it may take several weeks beyond the close date for the completion of review of application materials.

Staff (SHRA) Positions

For our Staff positions the hiring official may or may not employ the work of a search committee. These positions close on a specific date and are reviewed by Human Resources for minimum qualifications (if using a search committee) or more in-depth review of strengths based on the job ad (if not using a search committee). Typical next steps are phone interviews followed by campus interviews for selected candidates.
