House Of Cards‘ Sebastian Arcelus and Gerald McRaney are joining the cast of Relativity’s Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Best Of Me. Directed by Michael Hoffman (The Last Station, The Emperor’s Club), The Best Of Me tells the story of Dawson and Amanda, two former high school sweethearts who find themselves reunited after 20 years apart, when they return to their small town for the funeral of a beloved friend. Their bittersweet reunion reignites the love they’ve never forgotten, but soon they discover the forces that drove them apart twenty years ago live on, posing even more serious threats today.Arcelus will play Frank, Amanda’s husband and father of her children, and McRaney will play Tuck, a widower who takes in young Dawson and becomes a friend and father-figure to him. Arcelus and McRaney join a cast that includes James Marsden, Michelle Monaghan, Liana Liberato and Luke Bracey. The Best of Me is directed by Michael Hoffman from a script by J. Mills Goodloe rewritten by Hoffman and Will Fetters (The Lucky One). Denise DiNovi, Nicholas Sparks, Theresa Park and Alison Greenspan are producing alongside Relativity’s Ryan Kavanaugh. Tucker Tooley is exec producer.
Arcelus plays editor Lucas Goodwin on Netflix’s Emmy-winning series House Of Cards and will be seen in the upcoming Cinemax pilot Blanco. McRaney plays conniving billionaire businessman Raymond Tusk on House Of Cards. He’ll also be seen in upcoming feature Focus opposite Will Smith and Margot Robbie, set for a 2015 release, and the TNT pilot Agent X, starring Sharon Stone. Arcelus is repped by Paradigm; McRaney is with Stone Manners Salners Agency and Course Management.
