Trooping the Colour WILL go ahead next month with King Charles in attendance - despite dozens of royal engagements being scrapped and reviewed due to the general election

Trooping the Colour will be going ahead next month - and His Majesty The King will attend.

Buckingham Palace has had to cancel and review dozens of forthcoming royal engagements as a result of the General Election, but it is now understood that the official celebrations of the sovereign’s birthday on Saturday June 15 are unaffected.

Royal aides are still working out what part the King will play.

As previously revealed by the Mail, Charles, 75, may use a carriage given his ongoing cancer treatment rather than take part on horseback.

While he is personally keen to ride his horse, Noble, a black mare which was a gift from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, there are also concerns about how strenuous this could be.

Any decision will be dependent on medical advice, as well as issues such as the weather on the day.

Usually the monarch rides down from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade via The Mall to inspect the troops.
