Guntersville High running back Jordan Bentley received 2 honors last week after he set the school’s new career touchdown record against Moody.
The Alabama High School Athletic Assn. named him to its “Prep Spotlight” and AL.com named him its “Tennessee Valley Player of the Week.”
The 2 organizations differed in the amount of yardage they credited him with in the Moody game. The AHSAA said he had 202 yards while AL.com put it at 192 yards.
The Advertiser-Gleam had him with 192 yards.
Here’s what the AHSAA said about him in the “Prep Spotlight:”
“Junior running back Jordan Bentley of Guntersville rushed for 202 yards and scored four touchdowns on runs of 18, 5, 2 and 2 yards as the unbeaten Wildcats (11-0) beat Moody 33-7 in the Class 5A state playoffs. The Wildcats are 11-0 for the first time in school history. Bentley’s four TDs gave him 31 on the season. He has scored 66 TDs in his GHS career, a school record.”
“Guntersville’s Jordan Bentley edged Florence’s William Barnett with 39.92 percent of 3,890 votes to 37.76 percent for Barnett, an 84 vote margin, for Tennessee Valley Player of the Week.
“Bentley ran 27 times for 192 yards with four touchdowns (18, 5, 2 and 2 yards) and picked off a pass in a 33-7 win over Moody.”
