Editorial Reviews

The self-produced Out Of The Blues finds national treasure Boz Scaggs applying his iconic voice and gritty guitar skills to a set of vintage classics as well as four originals. For the occasion, the legendary singer/songwriter/guitarist assembled a star-studded studio band including such prestigious players as guitarists Doyle Bramhall II, Ray Parker Jr. and Charlie Sexton, bassist Willie Weeks, drummer Jim Keltner and keyboardist Jim Cox, as well as longtime friend Jack Walroth on guitar, harmonica and percussion.

Boz delivers another fine performance with his latest CD offering.
5 Stars
Boz delivers another fine performance with his latest CD offering.
Out Of The Blues is a return to the earlier blues influenced days. Love the music and Boz's vocals have never sounded better. The slow, hypnotic cover of Neil Young's "On The Beach" is an unexpected gem and the highlight of the CD. Highly recommend it. I've followed the career of Boz Scaggs for years and he does not disappoint.

Another great Boz Scaggs blues set of songs. Though he became known in the 70s rock era, he excels in the blues.
The only negative is that the CD was received packed in a thin paperboard sleeve as opposed to a styrene plastic jewel case. If you stash your CDs with edge up/out as I do, seeing the CD will not be as obvious as the edge is thinner and folds to one side some.

I read an article recently that said it was a shame Boz was known for Silk Degrees and not much more, and sadly that is most ways true. This album is a Boz Scaggs record and if you have been a fan of his you know what that means. The man has never made a bad record ever! I had just been to one of his shows and he did several of these songs, the record reflects the live show very well which says to me that even alone in a vocals booth he is straight to you. Face it, if you've read this far go on and buy it, you know you want to.

WOW! I haven't listened to Boz for a long time but bit on his newest CD. It is absolutely one of my favorite discs. My wife and I listen to it over and over. It is a great blend of blues, rock and r&b. The band and the production is top notch. What impresses me most is that Boz's voice is as good as it ever was. Period. Buy this disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is definitely a head turner

I was driving down King George Blvd, and everyone was turning to the sound of Boz and Out of the Blues. I saw Boz Scaggs at the Hard Rock Vancouver Casino last year and at Whistler in the 1990's, 1991 I think. At the Casino he did feature Little Miss Night And Day, which I recognized immediately. His sound has matured and is fuller. The Album is screaming blues, and speaks to any man or woman driving down the road or chillin at home. Having several of his albums in CD format, well it certainly is a welcome addition to the collection. More please!!!

I have never been disappointed with the music of Boz Scaggs and this disc was no exception. Wonderful bluesy guitar and smattering of great harmonica playing made it a pleasure to listen to. This man's voice seems to improve with age. Loved it.
