Angry Birds Land Theme Park Set to Open in Finland

Welcome to Angry Birds Land…the good news is, it’s in Finland. You could call it karma in action. The idea was only announced in February, but it seems the world’s first official Angry Birds theme park—well, a branded Angry Birds subsection of a theme park, anyway—is ready to, ahem, launch Tuesday, May 1, in the country that cursed the world with the highly addictive nonsense in the first place. Looking at the pictures of the special area of the Särkänniemi Adventure Park in Southern Finland, it’s fair to say that the attraction—based on the most successful mobile app the world has ever seen—won’t be giving Six Flags a run for its money in terms of white-knuckle thrills. Including a merry-go-round, a slide and an, erm, bigger slide, plus an edifice that looks like it might be described as a ‘tower of (moderate) terror’, the rides are pretty tame. Still, at least the park’s owners seem to have a sense of what is age-appropriate (unlike British Prime Minister David Cameron, who claims to be addicted). Interestingly, the attraction had a counterfeit predecessor in the shape of this ker-azy catapult game at China’s Window of the World park. Whisper it, but the fake version kind of looks more like my idea of fun.
