Christina Aguilera's Incredible Style Metamorphosis From 1993 To 2018

The eternally beautiful dirrty girl is always back to basics with every liberating transformation since her Disney days. By Michelle Varinata

The precocious child star was just another fresh faced teen in The Mickey Mouse Club. Dressed in matching prints from head to toe, it was the very first time we got a taste of Christina's style. Her appearance took place three years after her debut on Star Search.

Fresh off the Mouseketeer boat, Christina Aguilera goes for a midly sexy, but wholesome look with a pastel green crop top, matching eyeshadow, glitter tattoo and a pair of low rise apple green leather pants. Also, let's not overlook the micro braids and teeny tiny tendrils.

Slightly more dressed down than her party makeup, the pop star goes for a casual beauty look with a "no hairstyle" hairstyle, kohl-rimmed eyeliner, frosted eyeshadow, lip gloss and spray tan. Not only does she sport this "girl next door" makeup for the rest of the debut album era, the natural look is relatively tame to Aguilera standards.

Continuing along the theme of pastel monochromatics, Christina is back at it again when she wears a PG baby blue getup from head to toe at a Disney concert.

Aguilera summoned the genie to craft this adventurous look, which is topped off with mild pastel streaks. The Manic Panic colours weren't too wild, yet she still looked clean cut.

As a slight departure from the rainbow hair, Aguilera turns heads with this Medusa-esque hairstyle.

Almost repeating her hairstyle from 1998, it's bigger, but not necessarily better. Jutting out in all directions, the ends of her curls looked like they could poke our eyes out. Unlike the Disney-friendly natural makeup, she swaps her lip gloss for vampy lipstick, heavy blush and a smoky blue eyeshadow. Complete with a cutout velvet top sans bra, we were not prepared for this transformation.

Trading in rainbow brights for edgy jet black streaks, the jarring contrast between platinum blonde and obsidian was a sign that things were about to get dirrty. Clad in a bikini and assless chaps, Aguilera accessorises it with multiple piercings (who remembers the bottom lip and nipple piercings?!) and a super deep tan. As one of the most scandalous outfits during the Stripped era, the beloved outfit won the hearts of two celebrities with extremely similar rhyming names (i.e. Miley Cyrus and Kylie Jenner).

Ring the alarm! Upping the ante from the infamous "Dirrty" costume, this is the closest thing you can get to seeing Xtina bare it all (apart from going topless on the Stripped album cover). With so much potential for a wardrobe malfunction to happen, it's surprising that all the goods stayed in place.

Cutting off her extensions and dyeing her hair jet black, Xtina slightly cleaned up her look without giving up the wild child aesthetic. Although we were used to seeing her clothes that could fit a dog, we appreciated her effort for covering up.

My, oh my....The dirrty girl cleaned up nicely with a classic Old Hollywood-inspired look. Instead of pulsing club-hopping beats, she went for a jazzy sound to accompany her 1920s inspired aesthetic. Nevertheless, the makeover completely won us over.

Out were the microminis, chaps, crop tops and bikinis. More modest than her debut album and Stripped eras, Aguilera's sailor-inspired outfit feels refreshingly groundbreaking.

Going for a slightly futuristic aesthetic, Xtina was dressed in a striped bustier, shorts, statement necklace, fishnets, knee-high boots and a transparent vinyl trenchcoat. As much as we loved the look, it's a bummer that we can't remember the EDM-inspired Bionic.

On set for Burlesque, Aguilera donned a wig, eyebrow-skimming sunglasses and a headscarf. Although this was not a street style look, was it an indicator that this moment sparked her obsession for tiny sunglasses?

Dressed down at Disneyland with her son Max, was this a sign that she was ready to go back to her Disney roots?

A year after the Disneyland outing, it seemed like the former wild child was ready to return to her wholesome roots with her new album Lotus. Dressed in an ombré dress and a blunt bob, it was the closest thing you could get to the clean cut early years. Note: the minimal makeup look might be repeated again.

As one of the most outlandish dressers on The Voice (besides Miley), nothing can make a leather seat spin than Aguilera's fire engine red and pink dip dye hair. As another far cry from her red carpet look, must we be reminded that her wild side is ready to come back in full swing?

As a precursor to her 2018 street style, the blonde diva was back to showing off her boobs in a sheer black mesh top, embellished denim jacket and leather newsboy hat. Not only were we awed by her new makeover, this was an outfit that we could replicate IRL.

Finally perfecting the formula for her new era, it seemed like Xtina was ready to launch some new music after a string of forgettable flops. Bolder and brasher than ever, the feisty feminist had three words for Harvey Weinstein when she wore this raunchy tee for a photoshoot. Unexpectedly, the blunt lob from 2012 was back! However, this was not the first time that she wore slogan tees that championed women.

For her 37th birthday, Aguilera channeled her inner Dolly Parton in an embroidered nudie suit. Never straying far from her X-rated past, she cheekily revealed a minor nip slip with red pasties.

Gearing up for the Liberation release, Xtina's Greta Garbo meets Faye Dunaway outfit is accompanied by an eyeliner-less eyeshadow and a nude lip. Compared to the late '90s, this understated makeup look is more natural.

Returning to her motocross aesthetic from 2002, she rocks a colourblock biker jacket with XL silver hoop earrings and Andy Wolf sunglasses.

For a performance at the Rockefeller Center, Aguilera goes for a Matrix meets punk-inspired getup with a chained distressed tee and fingerless leather gloves. By uniting multiple aesthetics and attitudes from all of her past phases, it seems like Aguilera has finally come to a full circle for the Liberation era.
