Ryan Reynolds is in final negotiations to star opposite Sandra Bullock in “The Proposal,” a romantic comedy from Touchstone Pictures.
Mandeville’s David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing and Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are exec producing via their shingle Kurtzman/Orci Prods.
The story follows a demanding female boss (Bullock) who suddenly faces deportation to Canada. She makes a deal with her young male assistant (Reynolds) to agree to a sham engagement and marriage.
The script was written by Peter Chiarelli, who two years ago sold it using a pseudonym (HR 8/22/05). Chiarelli is the president of Kurtzman/Orci.
Kristin Burr is overseeing for Touchstone.
Reynolds, repped by UTA and attorney David Weber, most recently starred in “Smokin’ Aces” and recently wrapped the indie drama “Fireflies in the Garden” with Julia Roberts.
