Sandra Bullock has said yes to starring in “The Proposal,” a romantic comedy from Touchstone Pictures.
Mandeville’s David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing, and Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are exec producing via their shingle Kurtzman/Orci Prods.
The story follows a demanding female boss (Bullock) who suddenly faces deportation to Canada. She makes a deal with her young male assistant to agree to a sham engagement and marriage.
The script was written by Peter Chiarelli, who sold it using a pseudonym in 2005 (HR 8/22/05). Chiarelli is the president of Kurtzman/Orci.
Kristin Burr is overseeing for Touchstone.
Mandeville’s upcoming productions include Paramount’s “The Fighter,” a boxing flick starring Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg. The company also is in production on “The Heaven Project,” an indie drama starring Paul Walker.
Kurtzman and Orci are the writers behind the upcoming “Transformers” from DreamWorks.
Bullock, who most recently starred in the supernatural thriller “Premonition,” is repped by CAA, 3 Arts Entertainment and attorney Clifford Gilbert-Lurie.
