Christina Aguilera is getting down on the dance floor with her new song, “Telepathy,” taken from the soundtrack of the aptly-titled Baz Luhrmann Netflix series, The Get Down.

A little less “Your Body,” a little more Back to Basics, “Telepathy” sees the pop star and on-again, off-again Voice coach grooving through a Nile Rodgers-assisted beat packed with soaring strings, sky-high vocals, funky drums, and a wall of lushly-layered horns, all of which culminate in the funkiest track the 35-year old has released in years.

“I’m such a huge fan of Baz and so happy to be a part of this special project,” Aguilera wrote on Facebook as she unveiled the single.

The Get Down soundtrack, set for release on Aug. 12, also features new material from Janelle Monae, Miguel, and Zayn Malik.

Aguilera is currently working on a new album of original material. Appearing on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show in June, the singer revealed her next LP would be out “later this year.” The project reportedly features production by Pharrell Williams and Da Internz, the latter of which described the album’s “upper echelon” sound as “caviar ratchet” with “hood drums” during an interview with Rap-Up in 2015.
