On this week’s albums chart in the U.K., Taylor Swift holds at No. 1 with her re-recording 1989 (Taylor’s Version). As the singer controls the tally again, new sets by the likes of Jung Kook, Cliff Richard, and Johnny Marr all find their way into the top 10. At the bottom of the highest tier on the tally, one of the biggest rock bands of all time proves that even after decades, the British public can’t get enough of their hits.
Fleetwood Mac’s 50 Years - Don’t Stop ranks at No. 10 on this week’s edition of the most-consumed albums in the U.K. The set climbs from No. 12 to tenth place, returning to the top 10 once again.
As it finds its way back to the loftiest tier on the U.K. albums chart, 50 Years - Don’t Stop also hits a very special milestone. The title has now spent 260 weeks on the ranking, or exactly five years.
Amazingly, 50 Years - Don’t Stop isn’t Fleetwood Mac’s only charting title on the ranking this week. Rumours is down at No. 26, and it’s also rising. This frame, it lifts just one space.
Perhaps most impressive when looking at the band’s success on the charts in the U.K. is the fact that Rumours has now spent more than 1,000 weeks on the albums ranking in the country. It’s currently up to 1,018 frames, and it easily stands out as the band’s longest-charting effort. In fact, it’s one of the sturdiest releases in U.K. history.
50 Years - Don’t Stop is actually Fleetwood Mac’s third-longest-charting album. In between Rumours and this current top 10 is The Very Best Of. Another collection of the group’s most beloved smashes, that set has spent 360 weeks somewhere on the tally, though it’s not present right now.
Released in 2018, 50 Years - Don’t Stop is a box set that celebrates Fleetwood Mac’s fifty years together. It was made available in different forms, with some featuring 20 songs, while others include dozens. The collector’s item features many of the smash singles that made the group a household name, such as “Go Your Own Way,” “Dreams,” “Landslide” and, of course, “Don’t Stop.”
