Wim Boost, who signed with Wibo, was the longtime daily cartoonist of De Volkskrant. Born in Breda, he studied to become a drawing teacher but got a job as an animator at the Toonder studios during World War II.

After World War II, he drew for Jeugdkampioen (ANWB) and the military magazine Het Lichtspoor. In 1948, he became political cartoonist for the Hague magazine Het Vaderland. He additionally worked for the magazine Mandril, Maandblad voor Mensen, from 1948, where he worked alongside Fiep Westendorp, Wim Bijmoer and his brother Charles Boost.

Wibo was the staff cartoonist of the newspaper De Volkskrant throughout the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Some of his work has been collected in cartoon books. He had a column in the Haagse Post from 1952 to 1955. From 1963 to 1964, Boost worked for Studio, the magazine of the KRO. One of his famous creations is the 'Dennis the Menace'-like character in his cartoon series for Bolletje biscuits.
He should not be confused with Willy Backer-Overbeek, a Belgian comic artist who also sometimes signed with 'Wibo'.
