Some are saying the game, Atlantis: The Lost Empire -- Search for the Journal, could be the largest distribution of a legitimate PC game ever. The free demo will be shipped on more than 12 million CDs, and will show up in such non-traditional venues as children's magazines, new DVDs, Kellogg's cereal boxes, and in pharmacies.
The game is set more than a decade before the film begins, and will feature Lithtech-powered 3D graphics and online action to introduce the film's characters and its plot.
The game also will serve as a test for an expanded retail version of the game, which will be released next month for a suggested retail price of $29.99. Both titles will feature a traditional solo mode and an online component, with the mainstream press calling the game and its charming CTF mode "QUAKE for children."
