- Miarka, the granddaughter of Romany Kate, according to her grandmother, is to marry a gypsy chief-whereabouts unknown. Romany Kate, Miarka and her tame bear, live upon the estate of an old gentleman who tolerates Kate because of his interest in gypsies, and more particularly because he has a gypsy document which he cannot decipher. A gardener, in love with Miarka, robs the master and sets fire to the home, making it appear that Kate is the guilty one. She is convicted but later Miarka's pet bear kills the gardener and he confesses his crime before he dies. Kate, realizing Miarka is in love with the master's nephew, Ivor, takes her away. Later the master tells Ivor that he is not his nephew but was found at the gate when a babe. The document is deciphered by Kate and it discloses that Ivor is the chief whom Miarka had been destined to marry.
- The marquis de Granier would like his son Charles to end his current relationship for a respectable marriage. His younger brother Octave tries to help but Yvonne Lelys tricks him and he nearly leaves his family for the dancer. He even follows her to Constantinople. He falls asleep while writing to his father and dreams that he is a movie actor who, driven by poverty, sneaks into his father's home to rob him. As his father catches him, he kills him. Thankfully, it was all a dream.
- Jacques Landauze, a trendy poet in Paris, shoots someone at a party in a moment of drunken madness and escapes, assuming the man is dead. He becomes a poacher under the name Dumontel and meets Germaine Montazon who likes literature. One day, she steals some of his writings and asks her husband to publish it. The jealous husband has the man investigated and finds out his true identity. He invites Dumontel-Landauze to diner when one of the guests recites Landauze's poems. Germaine recognizes Dumontel's work. Montazon, crazy with jealousy, forces drinks down Jacques's throat and locks him up with his wife.
- Jean Paoli recently betrothed to Evelyne Desprez, his boss's daughter, gets tuberculosis and has to go away to get rest and fresh air. He leaves for Corsica and has to break his engagement. He is then invited to his cousin's wedding, Catalina. But the groom's father objects to the union. A vendetta is declared and, soon afterwards, the groom is found dead on the road to Ajaccio, murdered by Michel, Catalina's father, who then hides in the maquis. Jean decides to join him there and his health gets better. One day, Michel is mortally wounded by the police and Jean learns that his father died too. He, Jacques and Catalina travel back to Paris so that his mother is not left alone. He finds that Evelyne took a new fiancé, Max Carlier, who surrenders after a fight. Evelyne and Jean get married.
