I'm not a big Matt Skiba fan these days, but this split is full of great songs. I prefer Kevin Seconds offering a little more. In fact if you like this release, buy Kevin Seconds "Rise Up! Insomniacs" solo CD/LP!

I love this record. I am more of a fan of Matt Skiba than of Kevin Seconds but all the songs are good. The lyrics of In Your Wake were so profound in my mind that I have a couple of the lines tattooed on my leg.
The one flaw with this record (which is minor) is that all the Kevin Seconds songs sound very very similar. They all seem to begin with the same chord (at least from memory I believe) so trying to identify each of the songs from the beginning is quite tricky.
That said, all the songs are very catchy and if you are a fan of either of these guys, you should own it.
So good, I've just pre-ordered the re-issue LP.

As an alkaline trio fan, I was expecting something just a tiny bit different, but I was truly impressed. Skiba's half of the album is similar to his songs from Alkaline Trio, but slightly less dark, and obviously acoustic. The cover of Soul to keep is very beautifully done. Kevin Second's side is different. I don't listen to seven seconds, so I can't make a comparison to that sound. What I can say is that his side is very poppy. I loved it. It may not be your thing if you are into the dark emo influenced punk of alkaline trio, but I enjoyed it. The musicianship is nothing special really, but the passion is real, and it comes through to make the album fantastic. Buy this if you like the acoustic stuff from Alkaline trio.

What would you expect from Matt Skiba and Kevin Seconds? Pure awesomeness. And that's exactly what you get. They both play all the insturments in all the songs. Matt Skiba has traditional Alkaline Trio style lyrics, but with acoustic guitar in place of the electric, giving it more of a personal, coffee shop sound. I haven't heard a lot of 7 Seconds stuff, but I'm familiar with their sound, and I have heard a little off of compilations and such. He is a bit more pop sounding than Skiba, but that's not bad. He basically does the same thing as Skiba, with playing all the insturments, using the same syle of lyrics, but with acoustic guitar. This is definately worth buying if you are a fan of either of the men.

If you like Alkaline Trio or Keven Seconds, buy this. I bought this for Matt's side, and was not interested in Keven's, due to his voice, but the song "1981" was pretty cool and his side eventually grew on me.

AHhh I finally got this cd and I hate myself for not getting it so long ago at there show. If your into Alkaline Trio, and 7 Seconds get this. It just fits into a really amazing acoustic record when you just want to chill out and smile.

Awesome CD. A great mix of songs. Picture the Brady Bunch lounging around with Boy George and the Cosby Kids. Now if that isn't an afternoon of fun, I don't know what is. Matt Skiba is just glad he went to the city that day. What day??? IDK, why don't you ask him? Or better yet, buy the CD, and see if he tells you.

Matt Skiba is the best! If you like Alkaline Trio or just Matt Skiba this CD is for you. I don't care much for Kevin Seconds and could only listen to his part for 5 seconds before I turned it off. Matt's songs on here are incredible so it's definitely a must have just for his half. Definitely grab it if you're an alk3 fan.
