UFC commentator Mike Goldberg leaving promotion following UFC 207

Mike Golberg (EL, MMA Fighting)

Mike Goldberg’s days as UFC play-by-play commentator are coming to an end.

UFC president Dana White confirmed on Wednesday during a media scrum in Las Vegas that Goldberg’s final broadcast for the promotion will be this Friday at UFC 207.

Goldberg began working for the UFC in 1997 starting at UFC 15.5: Ultimate Japan. Over the years, he’s been known as the voice of the UFC, along with his broadcast partner, color commentator Joe Rogan.

Goldberg’s broadcasting career extends outside of fighting as well, as he’s also called NHL games, commentating for the Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild and ESPN2 hockey. He also has experience calling the NFL, making his debut on Oct. 2014.

It’s unknown at this time who will replace Goldberg in the play-by-play role and join Rogan moving forward. White declined to comment on the decision when asked on Wednesday.
