Singer-songwriter Teddy Geiger to perform at Havana

He does a little of this, and a little of that.

In his 23 years, Teddy Geiger has been known as a singer-songwriter, a dabbler in the trombone and drum, a bassist and pianist and an occasional actor.

This Sunday, he brings his eclecticism to Havana in New Hope, Pa., in a special all-ages show.

Typically, evening shows at Havana are reserved for those of the legal drinking age. This performance has special seating for all age groups. The jazz concert room is for all, whereas the loft is reserved for attendees age 21 and older.

Geiger, who first gained media attention as a finalist in VH1’s “In Search of the Partridge Family,” traveled and opened for Hilary Duff in the 2005 Still Most Wanted tour.

That same year, he formed his first band “Faction” — the winner of that year’s Battle of the Bands competition at the Water Street Music Hall. They broke up soon after when Geiger signed with Columbia Records.

Those attending Sunday can expect to hear songs off his 2006 debut album, “Underage Thinking.” The record peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard charts in the States, and it earned him “Best New Artist” in Australia’s Video Music Awards.

His first single, “For You I Will (Confidence),” is a sappy love song to a girl who somehow knows his affection, yet they don’t speak directly.

Geiger’s vocals, a breathy style similar to that of John Mayer, softly linger into a sleepy state.

It was nominated for “Best Love Song” in that year’s Teen Choice Awards.

Teenagers comprise the majority of Geiger’s following, hence the appropriate age-acceptance into Sunday’s show. Havana marks the end of his East Coast tour.

Though Geiger puts more focus into his music than to the Big Screen, he’s still squeezed in a few roles here and there — most notably on the cult TV series “Love Monkey” with Tom Cavanagh.

What isn’t happening

Also of note at Havana, an evening with Asia scheduled for Thursday has been postponed until June 7, 2013.

The British rock group formed back in 1981 with a lineup that included former Yes members Steve Howe and Geoff Downs, along with Carl Palmer of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. The band scored major hits with songs like “Heat of the Moment” and “Only Time Will Tell.” Since then, the band has been churning out progressive and hard rock songs. The current lineup is fronted by John Payne, who replaced original bassist John Wetton in the mid-'80s.

For information about Asia or to hear the band’s latest songs, log onto jango.com/music/Asia.

According to Asia’s website, tickets purchased for Thursday’s show will be honored on the new date.
