Tanning mania returns — the sunbed is making a comeback

Of all the Noughties fads to make a comeback — see cargo pants, Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Murder on the Dancefloor, hair crimping and Big Brother — who would have thought sunbeds would be among them?

According to a survey by Vita Liberata, a self-tan brand, one in three women are ditching bronzing products in favour of browning on UV beds and booths. Nearly all (91 per cent) of the 1,000 women surveyed from all over the UK were aware of the health risks, yet almost half said they were still addicted to the positive effect on their body confidence.
