This retelling of "The Lion King" is conveyed from the perspective of meerkat Timon (Nathan Lane) and warthog Pumbaa (Ernie Sabella) and shows how the pair became friends. The Lion King 1 1/2 is a delightfully meta revisit taken through the lense of its iconic, comedic duo. This may be a remake, but its hilarious dissection of a story we know and love is entirely fresh while equally familiar. This is a brilliant way to construct a sequel.
