Russ Breimeier Christianity Today Throw out your preconceptions, because the movie's actually not bad. Christmas Cottage has its charm, and certainly isn't the mess many would expect. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 8, 2020 Full Review Andrew L. Urban Urban Cinefile The film dips into syrup as it draws to a close, but even that we can forgive for its genuine warm hearted mood Dec 4, 2008 Full Review Felix Gonzalez Jr. DVD Review It's a little like holiday leftovers--still warm and filling but not as fresh or tasty as the first Christmas Day meal. 3rd D A miraculous movie that proves its own message! It begins, a pretty average movie, with some facepalm moments. Yet somehow, like flickers of light emerging from behind a tree, there are some extremely powerful moments throughout. By the end, the camera manages to rise above the tree, leaving the audience in glorious sunlight! I gave it one less star because of the tree that got in the way from time to time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/24 Full Review Audience Member I love how in depth and pure this movie was. I also love how it focused on the story instead of fame and fortune. Thomas Kinkade is one of my favorite artist and this was truly a movie for my collection. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie feels like an old black and white movie due to the slow pacing and the nature of the dialogue, which is perfect for the atmosphere of the movie. This movie is incredibly tragic and depressing, but heartbreakingly realistic. It's so grim that it's hard to watch at times on account of the overwhelming gloom. Yet the saddest scenes are the most poignant ones. If you've seen Jared Padalecki as Sam in Supernatural or as Dean in Gilmore Girls, you know that he is a master at portraying youthful innocence in a grounded, relatable way. Sam and Dean were never quite as optimistic and idealistic as Thomas Kinkade is in this movie, so it's a marvel to see Jared add such depth and uniqueness to Thomas without making him anything remotely like Sam or Dean. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a very sweet holiday movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice premise. Ok story... Good christmasy feeling. Glad I found it in a bargain bin. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Overly sentimental and over-acted yet surprisingly enjoyable Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Cottage will never be esteemed alongside most holiday classics but does enough to give a chance during the holidays.
