News: Provincial Commissioner and MEC for Transport and Community Safety hand over the high powered vehicles to SAPS

The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, the Honourable Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya accompanied by the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, have today on Tuesday 13 July 2021 handed a new fleet of high powered motor vehicles to the Saps Highway Patrol Team and other Units during a session which was held at Makhado in the Vhembe District along the N1 North to enhance service delivery across the Province.

The objective behind this prime movement was to effectively provide the best service to the residents of Limpopo.

In attendance, was the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Policing Major General Jan Scheepers, the Provincial Head of the Hawks Major General Josi, the Provincial Heads, Saps Provincial, District and Station officers and members, the Provincial Community Police Forum and the Provincial Community Safety Forum.

The handing over kickstarted with a word of prayer by Lieutenant Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi, Major General Scheepers welcomed everyone presence and gave an address regarding the purpose of session. He appreciated all the teams that made it possible for the motor vehicles to be handed to the Limpopo Highway Patrol and encouraged members to perform their duties responsibly while taking care of the state resources.

In her special message, the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Hadebe, urged members to patrol the designated areas to prevent criminal activities, especially the identified 'hotspots' in the province.

The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, the Hon. Mavhungu Lerhule-Ramakhanya rendered the keynote adress of the day and during her handing over of the keys of the high performance motor vehicles to the Saps members, she encouraged members to continue applying the tactics to suppress crime within the province.

About thirteen (13) High powered motor vehicles were officially handed over to Limpopo Highway Patrol Team.

Members of the media were given platform to interview both the MEC and the Provincial Commissioner, all questions were accordingly answered.

Following the handing over, the patrol duties along the highways and byways commenced with immediate effect. A Positive feedback regarding Police visibility has already reached the Provincial Corporate Communication from various municipalities across the province.
