One of the top basketball players in South Florida is heading north for the remainder of his high school career.

University School 2022 guard Jett Howard, the son of former Miami Heat forward Juwan Howard, announced he will transfer from University School to Bradenton IMG Academy.

Howard, who was a second-team All-County selection as a sophomore, finished last season with 15.6 points and 3.7 assists per game.

Howard is rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports’ composite ranking. He is listed as the No. 13 shooting guard and No. 54 overall player in his class.

As a freshman, Howard came off the bench for the Sharks as they won their second straight state title. He became the team’s No. 2 scorer last season.

This is the second straight offseason U-School lost a top player to a powerhouse team. Last year, five-star forward Scottie Barnes transferred to Montverde Academy.

IMG Academy has several highly rated players, including 2021 five-star forward Moussa Diabate, four-star 2020 forward Lynn Kidd, four-star 2020 guard Tamar Bates, and five-star 2021 forwards Brandon Huntley-Hatfield and Jarace Walker, among others.
