Anne Hatheway can sing? Of couse she can sing, she only won an Oscar for her heartbreaking portrayal of Fantine in the box office smash hit, Les Miserables! Tonight is a little bit of a variety concert as Hathaway so gracefully works through a slew of pop songs and some of the jazz standards allowing her Brooklyn accent to shine through. Everything she does on stage just captures the attention of single person watching. Of course this performance wouldn’t be complete without her take on “I Dreamed a Dream”, I would imagine that it must take a lot of energy out of her to sing such a song with such an emotive message throughout, but she holds it together with no problem, of course with the song being out of context makes a huge difference.
She really makes “Somebody to Love” her own too, nailing every single note perfectly. The audience are up on their feet and clapping for the song, “Real in Rio” taken from the film Rio. Such a talent, a master of all trades indeed. Bravo, Anne Hathaway!
