Celebrities took to social media to honor the legacy of civil rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the 50th anniversary of his assassination.

Rallies and marches are popping up across the country to commemorate King, who was shot and killed at the Lorraine Motel on April 4, 1968, while in Memphis to support black sanitation workers in a strike against poor working conditions and inadequate pay.
