Amazon today opened the second of three 36-story towers at the heart of the e-commerce giant’s Denny Triangle headquarters.
Day One – formerly known as Tower II -- stands opposite the Doppler building and towers over the globular biosphere building.
Construction crews recently broke ground on Tower III, just west of Doppler, Day One and the biosphere on a lot formerly occupied by a Prime Now fulfillment center.

Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) in October relocated the Prime Now fulfillment center to the first level of the Starbucks headquarters building in Seattle's Sodo neighborhood.
Amazon has gone from operating in founder and CEO Jeff Bezos' garage in Bellevue to having more than 10 million square feet of office space on the books.
Counting all the space that Amazon is in now and all the space that is being built or planned for the company, Amazon has a total of more than 9.3 million square feet, according to Seattle real estate company Kidder Mathews. Add to this two buildings that the company is planning to develop on a fourth Denny Triangle block where the Hurricane Cafe operated at Bell Street and Seventh Avenue, and Amazon will have nearly 10.2 million square feet.
By comparison, Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) has 14.7 million square feet off office space across the Puget Sound region. That is equal to 16 percent of all classes of existing office space in the region, and 29 percent of the best-in-class space.
The Amazon biosphere is scheduled to open in spring of 2018, and the company expects all construction to be complete in the Denny regrade area by 2020.
