Release date[edit]

WP:FILM guidelines for infoboxes state "Release dates should therefore be restricted to the film's earliest release, whether it was at a film festival or a public release." Since there is no way to know if this (or any film) will play at a film festival before commercial release, no accurate release date can go in the infobox until a film is actually released.--Tenebrae (talk) 01:42, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See the discussion at WT:FILM here. I assume you're talking about this particular film, not upcoming films in general? Erik (talk | contribs) 02:50, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm willing to go with consensus at the project. At the moment, there are two editors against my view. Other editors hopefully will contribute.--Bbb23 (talk) 04:00, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I was not able to find a reference for April 30, so I removed it. I'm not sure what is supposed to be the threshold for inclusion. Would the release date be inserted into the infobox on the day of its release? September 30, the verifiable release date, is not even a month away. It would take an act of God for the film not to come out, and we'll be seeing other editors try to add the release date to the infobox. Are they truly going to be fought on that? I remember when the TV program Medium was canceled by ABC. At that time, the infobox had a status (since removed by consensus), and some editors wanted "ended" and some wanted "canceled", and it would bounce back and forth like a ping-pong ball between the two. Frankly, I'm not going to not do something or do something simply based on the fact that there are editors that will fight over it. Now, in individual cases, I've let it go because I get tired of it. Here, I'm not just arguing about whether this article should have a future release date in it, but whether, as a matter of policy, we should permit future release dates in infoboxes, which I think is a much more important question than the issue on any individual article. Also, in a way, I don't mind arguing over small things like this rather than arguing over bigger questions. At least the issues are more circumscribed and there aren't as many of them. In the bigger issues, the battles are interminable, endless, unfocused, and exhausting.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:02, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It stunk because Americans do get tired of movies that teach pretty young blonds should never be unhappy. Not even her Audi convertible was enough... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.207.116.55 (talk) 23:38, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
