Barbary pirates[edit]

Hi, and thanks for the edit to the above, but the possible inspiration of John Ward as the historical original for the fictional, extravagantly unhistorical Jack Sparrow is covered at the John Ward article though by rather a weak source (a BBC writer); and as you imply, the series' connection with the real Barbary pirates doesn't bear scrutiny. Hi, thanks for your message. I thought it relevant as I was considering the articles to be fairly reliable as a source; moreover, according to his page, Hector Barbossa's name is based off Hayreddin Barbarossa. Of course, as you said too, PoC isn't based in the seas frequented by Barbary pirates nor is it particularly historically accurate, but I thought it was beneficial mentioning those points because they do link in in some way. 147.161.143.75 (talk) 11:08, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
