Clarke House[edit]

If you're going to upload a new image of the Clarke House, change the name of the file so the old image is still available. And if you're going to change the image on the page, make sure you update the captions.Shsilver (talk) 19:50, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File name of new image was changed to avoid this issue. Thanks.

Please do not delete the Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance page. The mission of the organization make it eligible for an entry on Wikipedia. As an organization that represents thousands of residents, the Wikipedia page is an important central source of information on the organization and its purpose.

Posting your reason PDNA should not be deleted on the PDNA Talk page would be more useful in disputing its deletion. Also, you should sign comments on talk pages with four tildes: ~~~~. Shsilver (talk) 20:25, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any way to get the PDNA page restored? Sorry, but I'm new at this and thought I was putting the information regarding not deleting on the page. Since it is now gone, I have no way to post the message there, and it would be unfortunate to lose all the work that went into creating it. Prairieavenue (talk) 14:53, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Instructions can be found here. Shsilver (talk) 15:19, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance[edit]

I've restored and moved it to User talk:Prairieavenue/Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance. That will allow you to work on it. Try and find some refereces that show the notability of the alliance before moving it back to article space. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 16:15, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now that it is restored, I would suggest finding third party references to it (in the Trib or Sun-Times would be good) to demonstrate its notability and the sort of work it does. Shsilver (talk) 17:18, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! We have received a lot of media attention, and will go through articles and insert some relevant quotes from the Chicago Tribune, Sun-Times, etc. Prairieavenue (talk) 19:14, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pastoral Window[edit]

Hi. You're trying to add this image to the Louis Comfort Tiffany article, but the image doesn't seem to exist. Did you upload it to Wikipedia or to Wikimedia Commons? I can't find it. Beyond My Ken (talk) 19:33, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at your contributions list, I don't see that you have uploaded this image. Are you aware that only images that have been uploaded to Wikipedia or to Wikimedia Commons can be used on Wikipedia? And that images cannot be uploaded if they are copyrighted? Beyond My Ken (talk) 19:36, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. You really need to stop adding images to articles until you know what you're doing. I'd be glad to help get you up to speed, if you'd like, or you can read WP:IMAGES or WP:Picture tutorial for basic information. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 19:50, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The photo has uploaded successfully. However I am still having problem with two images on the Second Presbyterian Church (Chicago, Illinois) page. I loaded four images into Wikipedia Commons, all in the same manner. They all show in my uploads, but only two of the four show in the article. The two that are not showing are Bartlett mural.jpg and Ascension window.jpg. Any ideas on why these two are not linking to the page?

I can take a look. What's your user name there? Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:08, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
User name is Prairieavenue````
OK, the problem is that the extant (the three letters to the right of the file name after the "dot") is case sensitive, so that Filename.jpg is different from Filename.JPG. For the two files you're having trouble with, you used capital letters for the extant, so the proper file names are Bartlett mural.JPG and Ascension window.JPG. Use those names and you should have no problem.

Here's another thing, though -- using galleries is not the only way to put images into articles, they can be put directly into text using the format [[File:Filename.ext|thumb|right|200px|Caption for file]], where 200px is the size of the file, and your choice is to put the file on the right side of the article ("left" and "center" are also available). Galleries are usually only used at the bottom of article, although they're occassionally used in the middle as well. Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:21, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, everything is now posted in the article correctly, I appreciate the tip about putting images directly into the text rather than using gallery. Will remember that for the future.69.209.234.177 (talk) 20:41, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Very good, glad it all worked out well. Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:40, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
