Requesting 48-hour sysop on sowiki

Status:    Not done

A lot of IP's and a user have been creating hundreds of articles (not an exaggeration, it's been going on for a long time, a dozen or so articles daily) that are machine translations via Google Translate from English Wikipedia articles to Somali. Revi deleted about 100 pages from one IP yesterday (see [2], there's also still pages to deal with); there are many more from other IP's. If granted temporary sysop I'll delete the majority of these articles, as they are both extremely low quality and not attributed. Also, there's a user who is doing the same thing. (see [3]) The vast majority of articles they create are machine translations from enwiki. I checked by running them through Google Translate myself, and all the pages I checked were exact matches. He also retains the footnotes (like [1] and [2]) without actual footnotes, so it's an obvious copy and paste. The other articles he created are 1-2 sentence stubs, or redirects. The wiki has a lot of very low-quality copy and paste machine translated articles that need to be removed, and I'd like to request temporary sysop to do so. Note that the wiki has no administrators, and no active editing community. The only active user is the one I linked above, who is machine translating. (and, considering their first edit to their talk page and threats to revi are in English, I doubt they're fluent in Somali) If this is declined, I understand, and I'll tag all relevant pages for deletion then post a link to the category here for a stew or GS to deal with it. Help adding MW:Gadget-mediawiki.toolbar.js in Romanian Wiktionary

Broken links in local interface messages

Hi, the URL of the WMF primary website has changed (yeah) few months ago, see phab:T199812. Numerous links in local interface messages point to 404s, and should be updated, like on w:zh-yue:MediaWiki:Copyright. https://tools.wmflabs.org/globalsearch/globalsearch.php can be used to list such pages. Interface administrator for nds.wp

Status:    Not done

Can some interface administrator please edit nds:MediaWiki:Common.js and remove the inclusion of nds:MediaWiki:Onlyifediting.js (lines 337-344) and after that delete nds:MediaWiki:Onlyifediting.js? Have you considered adding yourself to the interface admin group (of course after making sure this is okay with your community)? I haven't considered it. It didn't even appear to me, that this is possible. Our wiki is small and I rarely ever use bureaucrat rights. Previously I had the right to edit global Javascript, but due to software changes I lost the right. So I assumed that this now exceeds my rights.
Now that I am aware that it is just a question of re-granting rights to myself, I will consider the suggested path of action and ask for community approval to grant interface administrator rights to myself.

I have tagged some pages for speedy deletion. None of these pages is part of textbook. Nearly all are articles published somewhere else and copied here, possibly in copyvio. User:TataristanMoyaR has been creating articles containing nonsense content at bxrwiki. As far as I can see, articles this user created at nywiki (ny:Belarus, ny:Dunia, ny:Jezykowos daredow) also contain nonsense. Please refer to their contributions page. Unblock IP users at Korean Wiktionary

Garam, a only and temporary administrator in Korean Wiktionary, has abused the block right. Garam blocked some IP users because they keep asking questions in Garam's new election page. I think it should be mitigated blocking period or unblocked. 223.38.11.13 02:09, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

Garam mentioned "continuous trouble inducing across multiple wikis" as the reason of block, but this is a distorted excuse of specious value. Because one of the IP users that has been blocked has never done continuous trouble in any wiki. 223.38.22.202 02:56, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

It is not possible to create such a redirect. As explained (more or less) at the top of the existing article (your second link), titles beginning with "Q:" are not possible because they would redirect to Wikiquote (in this case, the Simple Wikiquote, which is where your first link leads). Even if it were technically possible to create a redirect with that title (say, by importing it from elsewhere), it would be inaccessible by readers of the Simple Wikipedia. (Taking the liberty of marking this "not done", even though I'm not a steward. Someone can correct me if necessary.) - dcljr (talk) 04:51, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

The issue with this seems to be that typing in "Q:Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!" (the title of the subject of the article) on Wikipedia would redirect the user to Wikiquote, where the page has no content and is a closed wiki. Deletion request for w:et:Orienteerumisklubi Võru

I am part of SWMT. Following a patrol, the w:et:Orienteerumisklubi Võru page seems to me to be advertising promotion. I added a delete banner on this page to be erased by one of the 33 local administrators (2 times). But the banner has been deleted by a user without local or global admin rights (VillaK (talk • contribs • block • xwiki-contribs • xwiki-date (alt) • CA • ST • lwcheckuser). I would ask you to check if my judgment on the advertising aspect is correct and if necessary to delete this article. The IP 146.255.181.146 created this article and other changes in the same direction. It is likely that this IP is w: and: Andres Metsoja and that he wanted to include his sports club in WP. However, it appears your limited language skills in Estonian may have led you to a misjudgement about the content of this article in Estonian Vikipeedia. The article you have suggested to delete has been created in the framework of the ongoing Estonian Vikipeedia project et:Miljon+ and the article has been specifically requested in the context of a sub-project to create content in Estonian Vikipeedia on Estonian orienteering et:Vikipeedia:Orienteerumise vikipäevakud. There are already six articles on Estonian orienteering clubs (see et:Kategooria:Eesti orienteerumine) and several similar articles are expected to follow. OK Võru is one of the most active orienteering clubs in Estonia and a number of Estonian top orienteers are from this club. The current article is a stub and shall be expanded, but it is not written as an advertisement. Add pl.wikibooks to GS set

Global ban of user:Dschungelfan

Dschungelfan [stalktoy] – [cross-wiki edits]: Regarding to this action here I wanted to inform, that the requesting user is blocked for one year doe to his permanent actions against German administrators in this way, like he has done it here again through the back door, see this user blocking procedure. This is a clear cheating of his block in the German Wikipedia through the back door and should have administrative consequences here. The matter has been discussed very shortly on the German administrator's notice board, afterwards on the talk page of the admin closing the issue. The admins are of the opinion, they couldn't do anything within the WP:DE. I am of a different opinion anyway. At that time of the user blocking procedure I supported the user, but this kind of gaming the system is unacceptable (see also this discussion). A global ban should be taken into consideration for continuous hunting of German administrators despite of a one year block, for the most part exactly for the same behavior. Also, there haven't been committed any actions against the rules of metawiki, which might warrant a local block here. Ajapaik web (testing)

Yes, the original plan was to add Wikimedia login to Ajapaik for Wiki Loves Monuments, but in the end, we just skipped it. However, the Helsinki rephotography project continues and login is needed for it too. Helsinki rephotos implementation deadline would be around 2019-02-01. It is not however currently in the top of the todo lists, because we are updating Ajapaik's OAUTH lib before adding new features. --Zache (talk) 05:06, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

Import from incubator to zhwikiversity
