Iain cites his inspiration for the recording as coming from, "various components, including the 'music with repetitive structures’ principle of American composer Phillip Glass along with a lyrical essence of George Orwell’s dystopian novel 'Nineteen Eighty-Four’ - the song's lyrics are an observation of the S&M-style relationship between the novels two main characters, Winston and Julia.” The original 9-minute version of the track has a 2-minute electric guitar solo at the end of it played by Alan Murphy, during which Alan lets rip.
