Cirque du Soleil, James Cameron, Andrew Adamson and Reel FX Entertainment have finalized a deal for a 3D feature inspired by the Cirque du Soleil universe.
Adamson is currently lensing the film in New Zealand after shooting footage of the major Cirque shows in Las Vegas, including “Love” and “Elvis.”
Cameron is bringing his 3D expertise to the project, and has shot some sequences. He’s taking an exec producer credit.
Cirque du Soleil Image, which is financing the 3D pic, is producing with Reel FX’s Ed Jones and Cary Granat. Aron Warner, Adamson’s partner at Strange Weather Films, also is a producer and is working closely with Adamson.
Film is based on the underlying premise that there are “worlds beyond dreams, illusion and imagination, where human beings are capable of anything.”
Otherwise, the logline is being kept under tight wraps. The film’s narrative underpinnings will follow certain Cirque performers. Adamson penned the story.

Adamson, who directed the first two “Shrek” and first two ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ pics, said bringing Cirque du Soleil to the bigscreen in 3D is “perfect synergy.”
“Jim and Andrew have created an amazing partnership,” Granat said.
The project does not yet have domestic distribution.
