Important Notice: February 9th, 2007

The current model for supporting maintenance distributions is being re-examined. In the meantime, we are unable to extend any support to Red Hat Linux or Fedora Core releases.

Fedora Legacy Shutdown FAQ

Q. Why is the FedoraLegacy project shutting down?
A. A combination of reasons:

  • A lack of community members who actually contributed to patches, testing, deployment, etc.
  • A lack of funding
  • A decreasing amount of interest
  • Interest/Discussion about extending the Fedora Core lifetime

Q. Will FedoraLegacy take on support for FC6?
A. No, the entire Fedora Legacy Project has been shutdown. Upgrade to a newer version of Fedora Core if you want security and feature patches, or upgrade to a different distribution such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, or a different distribution or OS all together.

Q. My servers are now complaining about "No mirrors" available. Why?
A. The master repository was deemed stale, and the master repository was shutdown on February 7th, 2007 for financial reasons. Other Fedora Legacy repository mirrors should still be up and available, but their content is now stale and should not be relied upon to keep a system secure.

Q. Will I be able to continue downloading the Fedora Legacy RPMs for my older distributions?
A. Some of the Fedora Legacy repository mirrors should be up for some period to come, but they will probably start individually shutting down or removing that content as it's now stale. If you depend on these repositories, you should download a local copy now while you still can. You can find a list of mirrors here:
