CBS is quickly integrating basic cable network TVGN into the company. In a corporate synergy move, Big Brother: After Dark, the late-night companion show to CBS’ summer reality staple Big Brother, will now air on TVGN. The move comes two months after CBS acquired 50% of the network. Big Brother: After Dark previously aired on CBS’ other cable sibling, premium network Showtime, for seven seasons. It became an increasingly odd duck in Showtime’s lineup as the pay cable network expanded into noisy, awards-winning scripted series, but corporate synergy kept it there. Now there is another cable alternative within the CBS family, and Big Brother: After Dark should be a better fit for pop culture-focused TVGN. Big Brother: After Dark will feature a curated live feed from inside the Big Brother house for two hours, seven nights a week (12-2 AM, live ET/delayed PT) for 13 weeks beginning Wednesday, June 26. Big Brother: After Dark telecasts on TVGN will be cross-promoted on-air within the Big Brother broadcasts on CBS.
Now entering its 15th season, Big Brother will have a longer edition this summer with the new season premiering on Wednesday, June 26 (9-10 PM ET/PT). It will be broadcast three nights weekly: Tuesdays (9-10 PM ET/PT, beginning July 2); a live eviction show hosted by Julie Chen on Wednesdays (9-10 PM, live ET/delayed PT, beginning July 3); and Sundays (8-9 PM ET/PT, beginning June 30). The live eviction show will move to 8-9 PM ET/PT on July 17. Big Brother is executive produced by Emmy-winning producer Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol USA.

Does the move to TVGN mean that they will be monitoring each episode to remove controversial content (e.g. profanity, nudity, etc.)?
If so, the connotation of “After Dark” is defeated.

BAD BAD MOVE for CBS. BB After Dark is now censored, there is no cursing- no nothing. All you hear now on TVGN is CONSTANT muting of voices. It is VERY annoying to watch BBAD now. Watched it on SHOWTIME for 5+ years and it was perfect. Now its 2 hours of MUTING! NOT 3 hours of actual sound! Fix this TVGN, it SUCKS NOW!!

I agree. I hate this new format, they mute the voices, plus with the scrolling tv guide listings, you don’t see the whole picture or see any sub titles when the houseguests are whispering. Not to mention how annoying it is to be seeing the scrolling channels.
I agree bad move the cast talk so low you cant hear anything they say now with the muting you cant hear anything why watch.
BBAD is not even watchable on TVGN. The sound constantly cuts out due to editing profanity and the quality sucks. The bottom part of the screen is also blocked out because of a big black line with the Tvgn logo. Watching BBAD is what kept me interested in Big Brother enough to watch the season, and since I am an adult with no interest in listening to partial conversations with gaps of silence, I will no longer be watching Big Brother. It’s like having a bad connection on a cell phone while watching so there is no way to even enjoy what is happening in the house. Thanks for the years of fun Big Brother but it’s time I move on to watch something more enjoyable. P.S. you may want to consider firing whoever decided that the TVGN would be a good choice for BBAD, it seems fairly obvious that the tvgn would be unable to meet the needs of this show.

I am so mad at CBS for moving BBAD, what very bad decision! I am so mad I am missing out. I agree with everyone that loved watching the feeds on Showtime. To make matters worse a friend of mine was bragging about good it was and wished I could watch it! She has tvgn and i don’t. I been watching big brother since it premiered and my friend has only seen last yr and this yr. it just sucks! CBS you suck!!!
I am upset with CBS I added showtime back on my channels just to watch BB after dark now I cant even watch it. And I dont get tvgn in my area. unless I change to dish. How is this fair to everyone who likes this show
Not to bore you, but, I’m sure I am speaking for alot of veiwers. I agree with Regina. I’ve been watching the show since it started. Very upset its not aired on Showtime anymore, or atleast a channel with AT&T U-verse. We already pay enough for our channels. Very upset…This blows….

I’m a 15 year super fan of BB and After Dark is a mess. We enjoyed so many years of great broadcasting from Showtime. All TVGN needed to do is follow in Showtimes footsteps and all of us would be happy campers. What we got now is a bleeped out broadcast that ruins the story theme. We either need Showtime back or TVGN to go back to the drawing board. If CBS owns 50% of TVGN, then it would be in CBS’s best interest to play a “big brother” roll in the way TVGN is showing BB After Dark. We wait a whole year for the show to come on and now we are exposed to this non-sense. Please! Please! CBS if your out there listening, get this fixed. We deserve better.

This is terrible.
First, the point of showing the feeds on TV is to show them uncensored. On Showtime, the control room already did enough self-editing on its own by cutting away from any potential nudity and/or controversial scenes. Now that the show is on basic cable, what else will be edited/censored?
Second, only two hours instead of 3? Why? What other vital programming do they need to be showing at 2-3AM ET? More informercials?
Third, this means lots of real commercials will be crammed into each hour. On Showtime they kept breaks down to a few promos every 20 minutes. Kiss that goodbye…
If this is CBS’ first step in showing us how the feeds will change under their control, it’s a really bad one.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I have been so much of a fan that I would record after dark every night just in case I fell asleep. Now we lose an hour every night, never mind the uncensored programing, which was a big reason I watched. It also made the contestants seem real to me , which made the shows on CBS more enjoyable to watch. This will change my feelings about watching the cbs show or after dark show at all.
I hate this move from Showtime so will no longer watch Big Brother. Because of the after dark on Showtime it was an interesting show. I also DVR’d all the shows.

i liked the BBAD on showtime myself….but hey, if it’s going to be free to watch on basic cable…then I can take that $12-$15/month for showtime, spend it on the feeds, hook up the laptop to the TV at around midnight. problem solved.

BBAD on tvgn? What a waste no more HD but just that stupid poor quality feed that has the channel guide going on at least half the screen? I’ll be done with that show if that’s what we have now. Not going to pay extra to watch a bad feed on computer either, already pay for cable to even get tvgn.

The strategic game talk is what I like. BB After Dark is not the best source for getting game talk because they don’t always switch to the room where it’s happening. Unless there is game talk, I’m bored by the show. Go to Big Brother Update for the best source covering game talk. People watch the live feeds and post what is happening in all the rooms 24/7 ….much of it word for word. They also post pics of what’s happening. It’s free to read and is updated as events happen 24/7. Just watching BB After Dark, you miss a LOT that’s going on in the other rooms at the same time.

You know, if you don’t get TVGN, you can always call your cable provider to ask them to carry it. That is sometimes the only way a cable provider gauges demand from its subscribers.
Save the phone call. tVGN does a horrible job with BBAD. It’s absolutely nothing like the Showtim experience.
I guess SOME people will get to watch BBAD, but since our cable provider doesn’t carry TVGN, we won’t be one of them. Maybe this is a ploy for CBS to have more people paying for live feeds. Never have paid for live feeds and won’t do it now. What a huge disappointment CBS!!!
