So that means Game of Thrones will still be paired with Veep and another new comedy. Has HBO learned nothing from Family Tree’s fiasco?
So Greg has still learned nothing about HBO’s business model?
Seems like HBO as usual
A drama in Jan-Mar paired with 2 comedies (Girls & Looking)
Game of Thrones (Mar-June) paired with Veep and a new comedy
True Blood and Newsroom June/July-Sept
Boardwalk Empire and 2 comedies Sept-Dec
Wait, is True Detective a series or a movie? I haven’t heard any news about this before now.
@PurpleDrazi – it’s a series

The business model that claims to not care about ratings but cancels shows that has low ratings? Yep, I understand it.
You’ll see I’m right when HBO cancels Hello Ladies and Getting On.
True Detective is by far my most anticipated show for Mid season. I hope it does well. I only watch 2 HBO shows (GOT & Veep) and would love to add another one.
True Detective looks really interesting.
As far as pairing up shows it doesn’t matter as much since the shows are repeated a dozen different times in different days and hours during the week anyway.
Pay cable isn’t looking for the first airing ratings. Ratings are for advertising revenue. HBO only cares about subscriber revenue and later DVD sales. Girls is a low rated show, but buzz, emmys noms, and a loyal fan base helps keep subscribers to keep subscribing. Whatever business model HBO is using seems to be working just fine for them.
