Disney Closes ABC1 in the United Kingdom

ABC1 is closing down next month in the United Kingdom. It is the general US entertainment channel run by Disney in the UK. It had been speculated that the station would be shut down but has finally been announced. John Hardie, Walt Disney TV’s executive VP and managing director in Europe, the Middle East and Africa said that ABC1′s “inability to get access to a Freeview primetime spectrum” and a corporate decision to “focus on the Disney brand” resulted in a decision “that it was best to move on.”
