Watch Katy Perry 'Rise' and 'Roar' for Hillary Clinton at DNC

"On November 8th, you'll be just as powerful as any NRA lobbyist," singer tells crowd

Katy Perry told the DNC crowd, "On November 8th, you'll be just as powerful as any NRA lobbyist" before performing "Rise" and Roar."

Katy Perry appeared at the Democratic National Convention with a victorious roar and to extol Hillary Clinton's run for president. An early supporter of Clinton's campaign, Perry was a confident choice that implored the crowd to "use your voice" before performing "Rise" and "Roar."

"Both of my parents are pastors, and staunch Republicans," Perry said. "I didn't finish high school and unfortunately I don't have a formal education but I do have an open mind and I have a voice. So I'm asking you to have an open mind and to use your voice, because on November 8th, you'll be just as powerful as any NRA lobbyist. You'll have as much say as any billionaire. Or you can just cancel out your weird cousin's vote, if you like. It's not where you come from; it's what you grow into."

The singer followed her speech with her new single "Rise" followed by "Roar." "Let's roar for Hillary," Perry said before going into the song.

Perry endorsed Clinton for president in October and has since campaigned for the candidate at numerous fundraisers such as a major political rally in Iowa. In 2012, Perry performed multiple events in support of President Obama's campaign.

The DNC had a number of high-profile performances over the week from Paul Simon performing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" on night one to Carole King lending Hillary Clinton a hand with "You've Got a Friend" earlier on Thursday night. Alicia Keys delivered her soulful new song ("In Common") while Lenny Kravitz offered a classic message ("Let Love Rule")

The performances conveyed the historic nature of Clinton's nomination; the possibility of electing the first woman president. Most memorably, actress and Pitch Perfect 2 director Elizabeth Banks organized all-star a cappella cover of Rachel Platten's "Fight Song" in support of Clinton.
