In 2016, the Governing Body of the City of Santa Fe passed an historic resolution to establish the second Monday of October annually as Indigenous Peoples Day. Santa Fe is deeply proud to embrace its rich cultural diversity and the prolific and profound contributions that its first peoples brought and continue to bring to the City. Visitors from all over the world come to “The City Different” to experience authentic Native American art and culture throughout the year. On Santa Fe Indigenous Peoples Day, we reserve the day to remember, honor and uphold our valued Native American neighbors from the 23 Tribes, Nations and Pueblos in New Mexico, our urban Indian citizens and all of the wonderful Native American arts, culture and educational institutions that give Santa Fe such a strong sense of place and make it one of the most popular travel destinations in the world.

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta® will launch from Balloon Fiesta Park, October 6-14, 2018. The 47th annual event, themed “Carry Me Away,” will feature more than 500 hot air balloons, of which nearly a hundred are anticipated to be special shape. Pilots from all over the world have been invited to fly in the popular international event.

Taste syrup from our burro driven sorghum mill, help make cider by cranking a traditional apple press, and pick a pumpkin from our scarecrow-guarded patch. The 10th Annual Santa Fe Independent Film Festival will commence on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 and close on Sunday October 21, 2018. SFIFF presents five (5) days of independent film screenings, community events and educational workshops.

Welcome to the inaugural “Magnificent Cider Festival”. Showcasing New Mexico’s emerging artisanal cider industry in a truly unique environment that accentuates and amplifies the senses, this is an event you will not want to miss!

Located near the Cerrillos Hills just outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico the J.W. Eaves Movie Ranch was constructed in the early 1960s to serve as the backdrop for both film and television productions. To date over 250 productions have filmed at this classic movie set including The Cheyenne Social Club, Chisum, Easy Rider, the 1960’s Magnificent Seven, and the 2016 remake, and most recently the Cohen Brothers television series the Ballad of Buster Scruggs to be released in the coming year.

New Mexico Wine has round up seven hard cider producers, a cowboy chuck wagon cookout, western vendors and plenty of children’s activities to ensure an event for everyone in your family

October 20th happens to coincide with the 10thAnnual Santa Fe Independent Film Festival! We are excited to work with their organizers to bring additional film buffs for tours of the movie set. Santa Fe County Tourism and the New Mexico Tourism Department are both sponsoring the event!

There will be family friendly activities and food including pumpkin carving, fresh pressed apple juice, apple pie and other harvest festival activities for children and adults alike.
