Today, Shkodra has started receiving the COVID-19 vaccination process for medical staff and the elderly. The first elderly person receives the vaccine for the first time.

Minister Manastirliu, accompanied by the PM Edi Rama, said that the center of Northern Albania will start receiving its first 150 doses of the vaccine today, which will be the first of several other batches.

Manastirliu said that starting from Thursday, the anti-COVID vaccination process will move across southern Albania, beginning with the city of Vlora.

Yesterday night, 7020 doses from Pfizer arrived in Albania, whereas PM Edi Rama announced that within the month of March, all batches of vaccines contracted with American companies will have been mailed-in and ready to process.

The Head of State stated that he has received a confirmation from a good ally of ours, that in April we will be expecting 360 thousand doses of the “AstraZeneca” vaccine.

“We are intensively communicating in order to reach an agreement with AstraZeneca and as I have previously mentioned, our communication is on multiple scopes except our straight-forward dialogue with the vaccine companies.

Today, we received a written confirmation from an ally state, saying that within the month of April, we will be receiving 360 thousand doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. I am giving out this information, without confirming anything as we have yet to sign any agreements, as in a situation of this kind where everything is constantly changing, every word we say seems like propaganda or part of an electoral campaign etc.”, he concluded.
