College coaching legend Rick Majerus passed away Saturday at the age of 64.Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers fought back tears while addressing the passing of former coach Rick Majerus after Saturday's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Majerus famously bestowed the "Doc" nickname upon Rivers, whose given first name is Glenn, after Rivers showed up to a Marquette summer camp wearing a "Dr. J" Julius Erving T-shirt. Dubbed "Doc," the name has stuck throughout his basketball career.

Majerus, who was an assistant during Rivers' playing days at Marquette, died of heart failure on Saturday in a Los Angeles hospital at the age of 64.

"That's a tough one for me," a somber Rivers told reporters in Milwaukee. "I mean, he's the one who gave me my name."

Rivers said he found out before Saturday's game that Majerus was unlikely to make it through the night. Fighting back his emotions, he avoided further talk on the subject.
