The Conjuring

The new horror film The Conjuring from Saw and Insidious director James Wan doesn't hit theaters until Friday, but the buzz has been more than positive, with test screenings knocking it out of the park, and reviews following the premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival being overwhelmingly positive. Some are calling it the most terrifying studio horror film in years, and New Line is paying close attention and planning ahead as Variety reports the Warner Bros. based studio is already developing a sequel. But since the film is based on the real-life account of a pair of paranormal investigators, how will the sequel play out?

Well, without spoiling the first film, a sequel would merely focus on another investigation conducted by The Warrens. Films like The Amityville Horror and A Haunting in Connecticut are based on their files, so a franchise from their paranormal work wouldn't be surprising. New Line president says they have the support of Lorraine Warren to develop another film based on their work. The first, film goes back to 1971 and follows the Warrens (played by Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson) as they look into a house where a family, including five daughters, are terrorized by dangerous spirits.

Carey Hayes & Chad Hayes will come back to script the sequel and if the first film delivers, they better be able to match it. The question is whether Wan will come back to direct the sequel. His next project is Fast & Furious 7 for Universal, so New Line won't exactly be able to fast track the sequel unless they find a new director. Wan's only horror sequel as a director is Insidious: Chapter 2 coming later this year, so we'll have to wait and see if he sticks with the franchise or let's someone else take over like Lionsgate's Saw series.

Been waiting for this one! The trailer was awesome but did gibe away a great scare. Wished some studios would create trailers that did not include any scenes from the movie.

A trailer that does not include any scenes from the movie... that is seriously the most retarded statement i've read this month.

Really? Paranormal Activity made trailers that had scares that was not part of the movie to pull audiences in but not give scares away. Video game trailers have also done that. As for being the "most retarded statement this month, being the first of December, here's hope your quota hasn't been met yet.

Given my location. I had posted it prior to the month being December, late at night. You see a trailer to get a taste of the movie and know what it is. You fucking idiot. And no, video games don't do shit like thatthat. Unless you're talking about Ubisoft's typically misleading gameplay trailer crap. You're a totally moronic idiot. You have no idea how things work. Let me guess, next you want the actors to NOT tell you how shooting the movie was like because guess what? "YOU'RE SPOILING IT OMG!" Fucking moron.

Oh, thank the gods! I wasn't sure if I was or not, even with all the diagnosis and exams from all the specialist around the world, but you my brave creature behind the keyboard, have cracked the code. You should consider opening your own practice.

Wan fans inexplicably will watch (and seemingly love) anything by him, I'm more surprised a trilogy hasn't been planned yet than a sequel.

Saw The Conjuring last night and loved it. The best part of this news is that the real Warrens are willing to help with making the film true to the actual events. SPOILER ALERT: The film concluded with the Warrens getting a call to investigate a haunting in Long Island, which was a reference to their Amityville investigation. So the sequel will likely deal with that.
