I think the album being too out there isn’t a problem necessarily, I think the portion of the industry that are clearly astonished by her would admire her growth on this album. I know that HTE had growth as well, but there’s something within the reaction to this album that feels more major. I do agree that the album does need a hit for a major win though.

May 17, 2024 at 4:10 pm #1205835135Is it crazy to say that TEXAS HOLD ‘EM is the frontrunner for Record of the Year? I don’t see Taylor Swift or Billie Eilish winning that category…
Yet it’s about to drop out of Billboard Hot 100 soon.

I’m not over this music video being so awful

May 17, 2024 at 4:24 pm #1205835147isn’t his new project country, though? that’s what I understood at least.
He can claim it’s a country project but we all knew that country committee is that picky that he can get relegated to pop. Or there’s no committee anymore, I forgot about change in rules whatsoever my brain doesn’t function well lately lmao

I think bey might be her consolation prize with SOTY after Billie will probably win AOTY

I believe so
But….. if “A Bar Song” gets nominated it’s over for Bey, they’re pretty much in the same vein and I see Shaboozey getting Pop, R&B and Rap votes.
(Post Malone + Morgan Wallen are not happening)May 17, 2024 at 4:39 pm #1205835167Billie’s album is amazing.
“Lunch”, “L’Amour de Ma Vie” and “The Dinner” didn’t appeal to me in the first listen but that didn’t mess up the overall experience. Pretty good, solid and cohesive.
I see alt, rock, dance and technical voters (engineers and record producers) eating this up.
May 17, 2024 at 5:07 pm #1205835177Honey, “Texas Hold ‘Em” is NOT the frontrunner in Record of the Year/Song of the Year.
May 17, 2024 at 5:39 pm #1205835204Happier Than Ever reigns supreme
Yeah, it’s just more interesting to me. Maybe it also has more missteps or iffy songs, but risks were taken and it pays off with repeated listens. Hit Me Hard… is a solid effort, but it comes off a bit pandering and cringe at times, doesn’t reach the peaks of either of her two previous albums, and doesn’t really sound like a commitment to anything sonically different for her.

Strongly agree, but Taylor might get SOTY if Pop Duo doesn’t air in the main ceremony.

May 17, 2024 at 6:49 pm #1205835232If Taylor didn’t get SOTY for Anti Hero or ATW, why would she get it for Fortnight lmao. The song clearly has a longevity issue and it will be complete filler by the time voting comes around

You can add “Blank Space” to that list. She probably needs another single.
