I don't know if I had read it back when it was new I would have preferred it, or not. I don't think I'll be back for the rest of the series. By the way, this book made me want to rewatch the dystopian Brazilian tv series called 3% which I highly recommend checking out on Netflix if you haven't already....more

I don't follow K-Pop very much although I do enjoy watching K-dramas and movies. I don't know much about the Korean music industry, but either way this is still feels quite accessible. The characters really make this YA Contemporary work, especially Skye Shin herself. She's a real breath of fresh air. I'm glad I decided to listen to this on audiobook - Greta Jung is a great narrator. I can't recommend this story enough. I'll have to read more from Lyla Lee in the future....more

This fantasy is Jamaican inspired and the atmosphere and world-building are outstanding, the characters are feel like they could walk right off the page (especially Faron), and the magic system is pretty cool. Plus, there are dragons! The story does deal with some heavier topics, but the author handles them well. I highly recommend this and I can't wait to read the future sequel....more

Parker is a solid YA mystery thriller. The set up is really intriguing and hooked me, but the first thing that really caught my eye is the cover. Just look at that! It looks so cool even if the story itself didn't always work for me. The big cast of characters is the trickiest part for me. I didn't care for any of them and it was tough to keep track of who's who. Plus, the novel is a little too long.
