Great stay, with a few issues
Beautiful location, and upon arrival, treated so well, welcomed and cared for by front of house staff. The first night was fabulous - the room was well appointed and no issues at all. However on the second night, the air conditioning was stuck 'on' and the room was freezing. 4 calls to reception and maintenance and at first I was told it would be sorted out without anyone attending the room. This didn't work, so I called back and maintenance did attend (who were lovely and did a re-set of the system). The room started to warm up, but a mere 15 mins later, the air con kicked back in and the room was freezing once again. I called maintenance and was told, "Oh well, you're checking out today anyway aren't you", as it was 9am and check out was 10. I felt quite angered by that response, given the cost of the room and the expectation that I should just handle it for the short while left. I expected exceptional customer service and didn't get this. Even when I rang for the final time to reception, I was told, "Maintenance will manage this centrally" so no one returned to my room and I left at 10am freezing cold. I was offered no refund, no discount, no complementary meals or in-room dining, nothing. So for 400pound a night, I wouldn't stay again. This is such a pity because once again when leaving, the front of house staff, those getting my bags, hailing a car for me etc, they were exceptional in their treatment of me.
